Yegi is a brand that makes living products used in everyday life. Through the collaboration between hs² studio and Yegi, a new direction and design were carried out while maintaining the function of a commonly used pencil sharpener. In order to satisfy the convenience and emotional aspects of using a pencil sharpener, similar experiences when using the product were substituted into the design.

Yegi는 일상에서의 생활 전반적으로 사용하는 리빙제품을 만드는 브랜드입니다. hs² studio와 Yegi와의 콜라보레이션을 통해 일반적으로 사용하는 연필깎이의 기능을 유지한 채 새로운 방향과 디자인을 진행하였습니다. 연필깎이를 사용할 때의 편리함과 감성적인 측면을 만족시키기 위해 제품을 사용했을 때의 유사한 경험을 디자인에 대입하였습니다.

We proposed three types of pencil sharpeners with a faucet as a motif. The pencil can be sharpened as easily as turning on a faucet, and the pencil’s sharpened skin reminds of flowing water, so that the experience of using the product can approach users as fun. It is made of polished stainless steel material so that the product can be used as an object when not in use.

수도꼭지를 모티브로 하여 3가지의 형태의 연필깎이를 제안하였습니다. 수도꼭지를 돌리듯 쉽게 연필을 깎을 수 있고, 깎여나간 연필의 껍질은 흐르는 물을 연상하게 하여 제품을 사용하는 경험이 사용자에게 재미로 다가갈 수 있도록 하였습니다. 광택 처리된 스테인리스 스틸 소재로 제작하여 제품을 사용하지 않을 때에는 오브제로 사용할 수 있도록 하였습니다.

Conceived of the idea of turning a faucet to operate it, the idea was developed so that users could use the product more easily and conveniently. We have designed several types of products to make the user’s experience using the product more beneficial.

수도꼭지를 돌려서 작동시키는 발상을 착안하여 사용자가 제품을 보다 쉽고 간편한게 사용할 수 있도록 아이디어를 전개하였습니다. 사용자가 제품을 사용하는 경험을 보다 유익하게 하기 위하여 여러 타입의 제품을 디자인하였습니다.

The head part is designed to sharpen the pencil as easily as turning a faucet. Through the skin of the sharpened pencil, the act of sharpening a pencil is not boring and feels like a fun experience.

수도꼭지를 돌리듯 쉽게 연필을 깎을 수 있도록 헤드 부분을 디자인하였습니다. 깍여나가는 연필의 껍질을 통하여 연필을 깎는 행위가 지루하지 않고 재밌는 경험으로 느껴지도록 하였습니다.
